Abstract
The present report documents the most recent toheroa (Paphies ventricosa) survey in Southland, conducted in 2013-14 at Oreti, Bluecliffs, and Orepuki beaches. The survey results include toheroa population information, e.g., abundance estimates and size-frequency data, and sediment grain size and organic content data. In addition, research at Oreti Beach examined the interaction between toheroa and burrowing ghost shrimp, Biffarius filholi, and the influence of gravel on the toheroa population.
