 Trumpeter are light olive with three dark green stripes down the back and a silvery underside. They can grow to a maximum length of 110 cm.
 
 
 
 There is very little information from New Zealand pertaining to Trumpeter. Based on Australian equivalents, they are thought to have a maximum age of 30 years. Spawning occurs from July to October.
 
 
 
 Trumpeter are not common, but are found throughout New Zealand, though only rarely north of East Cape.
