Title: FAR 2016/64 SCH 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 Fishery Characterisation and CPUE Report.
FAR-2016-64-SCH-Characterisation-and-CPUE.pdf (10.8 MB)
New Zealand fisheries taking school shark (SCH) are described for the period 1989–90 to 2012–13, based on commercial catch and effort data. Nine commercial fisheries (4 setnet and 5 bottom longline) are identified, defined by location and method of capture, and which have largely overlapping spatial definitions. The only exception was eastern Cook Strait, where the setnet and bottom longline fisheries behaved differently. CPUE analyses were used to estimate changes in abundance for this species.

Title: Review of QMS species for inclusion in the east coast South Island winter trawl survey reports.
5869064-FAR-2013-35-Review-of-QMS-species-for-inclusion-in-the-east-coast-South-Island-winter-trawl-survey-reports.pdf (12.9 MB)
Twenty candidate QMS species, excluding the target species, were reviewed and recommendations made on which species and outputs should be included in all future survey ECSI winter trawl survey reports. The following species should be included: barracouta, lemon sole, ling, rough skate, smooth skate, school shark, rig, and silver warehou.
