Abstract
This report describes catch sampling from three commercial KAH 1 fisheries during the 2011 and 2012 calendar years: the Bay of Plenty purse seine and Hauraki Gulf set net and ring net fisheries. Approximately half of the landed purse seine catch in both years was sampled, resulting in age distributions dominated by the 5 and 6 age classes. Ultimately the set net and ring net fisheries were regarded as one combined fishery because of method ambiguity and because they both tended to land 4 to 5 year old fish.
