Abstract
This document updates and summarises the stock assessment of Campbell Island southern blue whiting. It suggested that the biomass of the stock in 2015 was 220 200 t (95% C.I.s 141 700–323 400 t) and was at 62% B0. The biomass was expected to decline to 41% B0 by 2018 under an assumption of a constant catch of 40 000 t (the 2015 TAC). The biomass estimates were higher than those in the previous assessment, primarily due to the recruitment of recent strong year classes into the fishery.
