Abstract
Describes the recreational landed catch of southern bluefin tuna in the 2018–19 fishing year. This is the third year since a recreational fishery developed off Cape Runaway. An on-site boat ramp survey estimated the catch from Waihau Bay to be 192 (CV 0.075) southern bluefin in 2019. National sport fishing club records and charter boat catches were compiled. The national recreational harvest estimate for southern bluefin tuna is 25.9 t with an estimated range of 24.4 t to 27.5 t in 2018–19
