Abstract
This report updates and analyses information for the barracouta fishery that primarily operates around the Southland area, Stewart-Snares shelf, and Auckland Islands (BAR 5), with data up to the 2014–15 fishing year. Catches in BAR 5 exceeded the TACC six times between 2004–05 and 2014–15. Observer length frequency data show consistent recruitment. Standardised annual CPUE indices had similar trends, with a large increase in biomass in 2006–07 and a relatively high biomass in 2007–08 to 2014–15.
