Abstract
This report describes the recreational landed catch of southern bluefin tuna in the 2020–21 fishing year. The winter fishery off Cape Runaway makes up the largest component of this catch. An on-site boat ramp survey estimated the catch from Waihau Bay to be 445 (CV 0.023) southern bluefin. National sport fishing club records and charter boat catches were compiled and included. The 2020–21 national recreational harvest estimate is 57.2 t with an estimated range of 54.1 t to 60.3 t.
