This is a factual account of a survey of seabed habitats and fauna on Chatham Rise, New Zealand, conducted aboard RV Tangaroa as part of MPI project ZBD201611 ‘Quantifying benthic biodiversity across environmental gradients’. Towed camera transects were completed at 142 sites across the rise, with sediment cores collected at 25 of these sites. In addition, five camera transects and two sediment corer deployments were completed in Kaikoura Canyon, in the aftermath of the November 2016 earthquake.
