Abstract
The number of striped marlin landed and tagged by recreational fishers is well recorded by sport fishing clubs and in the New Zealand Gamefish Tagging Programme. Marlin fishing effort and catch is captured using a Billfish Logbook. CPUE and catch for the 2011–12 and 2012–13 fishing years is added to the existing time series. A negative binomial GLM was used to standardise East Northland charter boat CPUE. The point estimates for this index are below the long term mean for the last four years.
